It has come to our attention residents in our area are receiving telephone calls from someone claiming to be with the Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department who is soliciting money for our organization. This person or people DO NOT represent the Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department and are believed to be conducting a scam. The Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department does not conduct telephone solicitations or door-to-door solicitations. Our revenue is generated by our annual donation letter, our monthly fish fry, and a donation form the Rutherford County Board of Commissioners.
The Murfreesboro Firefighter's Association is currently conducting a telephone fund raiser where they are selling tickets to a concert event. This is a legitimatee fund raiser and conducted by a third-party company contracted by the Murfreesboro Firefighter's Association. These callers will tell you they are with the Murfreesboro Firefighter's Association, though. They are not, however, associated with the Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department in any way.
Should you receive a telephone call from someone identifying themselves as being with the Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department and asking for donations, please don't provide them with any of your personal credit card or banking information. We never call and request this information for any reason.
We look forward to seeing you at our next fish fry on February 13 where you can be assured your money is going towards your fire department.
